Bring a piece of Africa into your world...

Newsletter - December 2009It’s that time of the year once again and we wish all of our loyal friends: Happy Christmas and a very prosperous 2010! May 2010 be everything you wish it to be. Art Creations Africa supplied sculptures for the entrance to the hall in which the draw for the 2010 world football cup was held. Our sculptures held a prominent position. The sculptures chosen were by Lincoln Muteta and Pedzisai Mupinga. We now wait for this huge event. As you all know it kicks off on 11 June 2010 and ends 11 July 2010. Art Creations Africa will be open to accept visitors during this period. Should you have friends coming to South Africa and they would like to view sculptures, please ask them to contact Barrie or Ina at the gallery by telephone or e-mail. The world-renowned golf club “Erinvale” in Somerset West are offering a special playing rate during the world cup. Should we at Art Creations Africa be in a position to assist visitors during this time please do not hesitate to ask. Art Creations has two new exhibitions for 2010. They are at the Commodore Hotel (Cape Town) and Blaauwklippen Wine Estate (Stellenbosch). The Commodore Hotel is one of FIFA’s appointed hotels and it has a sister hotel next door, the Portswood Hotel. Both hotels have excellent restaurants. Should you be in the area we recommend you go in for a snack or glass of wine. Blaauwklippen Wine Estate is part of the Arabella group and serves and sells a wide variety of red and white wines. On the estate you are able to visit the old manor house and the horse drawn carriage museum. Afterwards sit under the trees and enjoy a meal from its well-known restaurant. Beer drinkers, Blaauwklippen serves “Paulaner” beer from Munich. This is brewed to the original recipe at the Paulaner Brewery in Cape Town. The wine tasting facility at Blaauwklippen is a must. Here you are able not only to taste the wines, but also identify the flavours and aromas by comparing them with the various spices and herbs that are placed at your disposal. This is quite a challenge. At Blaauwklippen, from January 8 to after Easter, we will have a sculptor demonstrating how difficult it is to carve stone using only a hammer and chisel. This is very interesting if you have not seen it being done before. Godfrey Mutembuka, our loyal and trusted salesman, will be in attendance during this period of time at Blaauwklippen. We have taken down our exhibition at Neethlingshof after 5 years. Neethlingshof has revamped their wine tasting area and their entrance. It is looking great. The restaurant is a must with its Swiss owner as chef. In 2010 we could be holding an exhibition at the Park Hotel, Bremen. It should open on May 6 and close on July 11. The hotel is putting together a program starting with a South African week and ending with the world cup final on the 11th of July. As we progress with the arrangements for the exhibition I will keep you informed. Our exhibition at the Hotel Nassauer Hof this year was a great success. Thank you all for your support and help. We did not have as many international sales but met many new people from Wiesbaden. The exhibition will once again be at the hotel in 2010. I have just heard the sad news that Sylvester Mubayi is very ill with cancer. His sons say he is very weak. This is a great pity. Sylvester is 68 years young and was there from the very beginning. He is one of the true masters and his sculptures grace many homes and gardens. Our new sculptures we hope will arrive before Christmas. Time will tell. There are 50 sculptures we will do our best to polish, photograph and place them on the web for all to see. Our last consignment took 3 months to arrive. Ina has been very busy and has placed us on Facebook and Twitter. Ina does her very best to enter all the latest news should you have anything of interest that you would like to share please let Ina know. Please follow us on Twitter and join our Facebook group and add pictures of your sculpture in their new homes. Once again from all the people at Art Creations Africa, have a fabulous Christmas and hope to hear from you all in the “New Year”. Back to Newsletters >> |
