NEW EDITION OF ´PIECES OF TIME´ - an anthology of articles written on Zimbabwe´s stone sculpture in the Herald and Zimbabwe Mirror 1999-2002 - (Mambo Press Gweru Zimbabwe 2004) by Celia Winter Irving.

´Pieces of Time´ comprising the above articles quite naturally covers a wide range of sculptors, sculptures, issues, debate, and conjecture about Zimbabwe´s stone sculpture. It is a compendium of the authors thoughts, observations, ideas and findings about the subject over three years l999-2002 crucial to the development of the stone sculpture at a time of growing ´internationalization of art´ brought about by the ethos of Biennales and Art Fairs and new ´theoretical approaches´ to the stone sculpture. ´Pieces of Time´ launched at Dominic Benhura´s Studio in Harare in June 2005 has become a respected text in the ´international community´ for the stone sculpture and a worthy and up to date successor to the author´s first book ´Stone Sculpture in Zimbabwe´ Context Content and Form (Roblaw Publishers, Harare Zimbabwe local edition 1991 and Craftsman House Fine Arts Press Australia 1993).

The Forward to Pieces of Time is by Titus Chipangura Director of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe who advocates the book as a text for secondary and tertiary educational institutions featuring the art of Zimbabwe both locally and abroad.

´Pieces of Time´ is distributed internationally by African Books Collective in Oxford UK and in response to a virtual sell out of the first edition and high demand for another edition. Mambo Press and African Books Collective have had another edition of the book printed - a larger book A 4 size with excellent paper and larger print and new photographs. The cover image ´My Cat Lady´ by Tichaonwa from Tengenenge takes on impressive semi silhouette.

In addition to this new edition a digital version of Pieces of Time has also been made.
