New Gallery and Sculpture Garden - July 2008

At last we have moved into our new gallery and sculpture garden but not settled in. In the garden there will be 40 medium to large sculptures and approximately 150 smaller sculptures in the new gallery. Everything went to plan except for the rain. We hope to be fully operational by the end of August before I go to Germany to erect our autumn sculpture exhibition at the famous 5 star Hotel Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden. The exhibition will run from 1 September until the 2 November 2008. Our loyal salesman, Godfrey Matembuka will be in attendance. Should you want to view all our sculpture then please visit our sculpture gallery where we display over 400 sculptures.

The latest news from Zimbabwe is that the artists are having a torrid time because of the lack of visitors. The conditions are getting worse and people are really struggling. Inflation has reached 11200000% in Zimbabwe Dollar terms. However, if you use hard currency price have only escalated by approximately 50% over the last 2 years. To get hard currency in Zimbabwe is nearly impossible. Because of this situation it has become difficult to get sculpture through the borders and the price of transport are prohibitive. Maybe with the drop in oil prices things will change. However it takes about 3 to 4 months for anything to happen in Zimbabwe.

We at Art Creations Africa are looking forward to a new season and hope that it will be as good as 2007. Because of our excellent season last year I was able to travel to Zimbabwe twice and spent considerable amounts of hard currency, which has helped the artists and their immediate family. I therefore ask you all for you assistance to sell as many sculpture as possible to enable me to buy and assist the artist. Please spread the word and should you be visiting our shores and coming to Cape Town please visit our sculpture garden and gallery.
