Bring a piece of Africa into your world...

In ConclusionWithout the support of galleries like Meg and Roy Guthrie and Roy Cooke, who assisted the artists by buying and storing sculpture during the dark days of the war of independence, financing the artists during those hard times and carrying the art movement during Zimbabwean troubled times, there would most probably not have been this fabulous art gracing our homes today. Roy Guthrie has built up the largest permanent collection of sculpture in the world. This investment has led to Roy Guthrie becoming the largest and most important promoter of the sculpture movement over the past forty years. Their first gallery was “Gallery Shona Sculpture“ this later became “Chapungu Sculptures“ and has exhibited and conducted major exhibitions throughout Europe, Australia and the America. Chapungu Sculptures with Roy and Meg Guthrie can be thanked for placing the much loved handcrafted art form commonly known as hard stone sculpture on the International art map and can be thanked for beautifying many of our homes.
