Silas Manjore
Silas Manjore was born in Mutare in 1950. He attended the Mutanda Government School in Mutare and excelled at art. After leaving school, Silas worked at the Terreskaine Hotel in Harare as a hotel room attendant.
One day, he decided to go and watch Canon Paterson tutoring some potential artists at the Nyarutsetso Art Centre. This was a turning poin.
Four months later, Silas decided to leave his job and also do art at the Centre. In 1970 he began working for Canon Paterson where he worked with different artists including Joseph Muli.
During the 1970īs, Manyore did an exhibition with the famous Richard Mteki at the Ranch House College.
Silasīs ambition was to become one of the top artists - and up till now his work has formed part of group exhibitions all over the world.
Silas died in February 1994.
