John Chihowa

John Chihowa, one of the best fine art sculptors of the third generation sculptors. He has a true talent of art and portrait. He produces some charming pieces of sculpture, fine art and creation.

He was born in Rusape, in the Makoni District, on 21 July 1953. He left school at an early age, where his interest in art started. He used to make wire and clay toys which were highly demanded by some nearby youngsters. Kekani, John´s Uncle who was the best sculptor of that time, took John for some training of creations. But John´s art proved to be fine and portrait. He still wishes to pass over his talent to his first son, Talkmore, who also has a deep interest in art and sculpture.

John´s ambition is to raise enough money, so as to have his own gallery to display his work and have a small farm to accommodate his family and do a bit of farming. His work though in demand, is displayed in various galleries in Harare, like the gallery Shona Sculpture.
