Closer Chirengwa
Closer Chirengwa, born on 7 June 1968 in the Guruve District of Zimbabwe. Closer is not married and lives with his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Since leaving school in 1987, Closer has earned his living through sculpting.
When Closer was younger he showed a keen interest in watching other sculptors at work. Francia Mugavazi influenced him.
Closer works in beautiful coloured serpentines mined in Guruve where he still lives. His ambition is to excel in sculpting and to make a name for himself.
Works of his can be seen at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and The Gallery Shona Sculpture, Chapungu Village. His work has been shown on international group exhibitions in Hong Kong, United States of America, and Australia.
