Phinea Masaya
Born in 1972 in Nyanga. Phinas completed his education in Rusape . He worked for a while as an industrialist. In mid 1994, encouraged by his sculptor father, Moses Masaya, he turned his hand to carving stone, which he did with some success.
Like his father and cousin Eddie Mashaya, he was deeply influenced by his grandmotherīs strong personality. Traditional belief is an important influence in his attitude to life.
His Sculptures are usually distinguished by their heads, which can be removed and put aside, then positioned and put back on again. In between the body and the head, is a pin, which supports the head.
Phineas works and lives in Chitungwiza, near Harare.
