Isaac Mapfumo Isaac Mapfumo, born in February 1954 in the
Mbare High Density suburb of Harare. His father is still alive, but his mother died in 1983.
He is the fourth born in a family of eight, three boys and five girls. Isaac is married with four sons. Isaac started carving in 1987 doing small creations in Rapoko Stone. Isaac did his primary education at Chirodzo School Masvingo. He couldnīt go further than form three, but managed through correspondence to pass mathematics and English at O-level. Isaac worked as a teacher and an independent fashion designer before. His ambition is to be a top sculptor. Isaac works mainly in Serpentine and sometimes in Wonder Stone.
