Bernard Manyandure Bernard was born in 1942 at Nyatate in Nyanga North. He was one of the small numbers of sculptors who formed the Nyanga group under the leadership of Joram Mariga. Bernard enjoyed sculpting culturally symbolic flora and fauna from traditional oral fables and folklore.
Frank McEwan met Bernard whilst visiting Joram Mariga and was instrumental in his encouragement, which led to worldwide acclaim. Most of Bernardīs time is now taken up with his farm in Nyanga, but he still sculpts in his spare time. Artist's Sculpture (Click to view):
