Anderson Mukomberanwa Anderson Mukomberanwa was born in 1968 in Harare as the son of an acclaimed First Generation sculptor, Nicholas Mukomberanwa. This familial link has birthed an artist who is driven passionately to make his own mark from under the shadow of his famous father.
While his talent has been genetically inherited, it bares recognition for his own ambitious signature and style, which portrays humour and compassion. His work is an antithesis of the usual interpretation of social themes, preferring rather to look at the humorous light-hearted issues of Zimbabwean life. Anderson is an artist who has successfully staked his claim to individuality, his work expressed with largesse. From the beginning Anderson worked with hard challenging stones unlike many young sculptors who began with softer steatites. This has ensured a degree of skill that now enables him to turn a wide range of ideas and tackle many of his ambitions. Anderson sadly passed away on 10 March 2003.
